And Around We Go!

So I had a feeling that I was going to find a pretty cool article to talk about today and I boy was right! This is some crazy stuff right here people. Take a second and think about how awesome it is to eat dinner on the top floor of the John Hancock Center. While you’re stuffing your face you get to take in some fantastic city vistas. One problem though, your view never changes, and that’s boring. Enter places like the Toronto Space Needle that has a restaurant on the top floor that rotates! Now while you drink at the bar you don’t have to look at the same view for hours. Pretty cool no? Unless you get motion sickness, then you’re screwed. Only problem here is that you have to go out and spend top dollar every night to get that glorious view. But what if your apartment high rise had a rotating floor that you could live on, or better yet, The whole building could rotate!

BOOM! Thank you Dubai! Look at that crazyiness. How could you not want to live in a building that was the ever changing face of architecture. Could be a boring straight sided building when you leave for work and then be a fantastic double helix looking deal when you get home. The opportunities are endless.

But Marty, what about how much power it takes to rotate it. Think of the children. Problem solved my hippy friends. Between each floor are horizontal wind turbines that can produce pollution free energy to rotate the tower and power homes! See ya later ComEd. If this thing isn’t screaming WINDY City then I don’t really know what is.

And can you imagine this thing all lit up at night! I already love driving through the city at night and seeing different colors on buildings for whatever is going on that month. This thing would look glorious! The article mentions that these things could be built in tons of major cities if the idea takes off in Dubai. I would imagine there are some kinks that would need to be worked out and tested but can’t even fathom what they could be. All I know is that I would love to live here.

Have a great weekend all and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
